Looking for illustrators….

Wednesday, October 19th, 2011

I haven’t posted for a while – things are hectic on all fronts at the moment….

This post is a small detour from photography. I’m looking to work with about 10 great illustrators – either established or emerging artists – on an upcoming project.

At this point I can’t really say more, however if you’re interested then please send me an email with either a couple of examples of your imagery attached or else include a link to a web site where I can see them.

Looking forwards to hopefully working with some of you….

A bit of perspective please….

Last weekend my three-year-old daughter’s school put on a folk-dancing show; a local group had been teaching the kids a few dances over the last few months (not an easy task I’ll wager!).

Literally all the parents were enjoying taking photos of the event...

Naturally, I took along my camera to take lots of pictures of Annouk, and the other parents did the same. I wish now that I’d taken a picture of the parents taking pictures, but I didn’t. I did however find this crop from one of my images.

Find me on Facebook

You can now also find me on Facebook where I’ll be posting all sorts of interesting snippets.

Facelift

Monday, August 24th, 2009

Following many hours of hard work I’ve given my site a complete facelift.  The new site is leaner and more focused on my photography, and the clean white is much more appropriate for the commercial work that I undertake.

Anyone looking for the Lightroom plugins that I’ve created for my fellow photographers will now find everything they need in one place – the Photographer’s Toolbox.

Any feedback regarding the new site design is appreciated.

A Twitter Experiment

Monday, March 16th, 2009

Since I’d like to reserve the use of this blog for “worthwhile” posts (for want of a better word) I’ve been wondering how I can best publish snippets of information such as updates to my plugins etc.

Twitter seems to be a perfect for this sort of thing, so I’m going to start twittering about the less consequential stuff.   If you’d like to follow me you can do here:

A Rapid-R strap, an L-bracket and a vertical grip – the holy grail of camera confort?

I’m one of those people who struggles with camera straps.   I just can’t get comfortable with them.  The weight of the camera around my neck is bad enough, but what  frustrates me more is that it’s impossible to moveat all – without actually holding the camera. If I dare lean forwards the camera will invariably swing out into a hard obstacle, and if try walking it’ll swing about in what I can only assume is a desperate attempt for independence.

So, I have to hold the camera.  What’s the strap for?  Standing still.

Shooting is possible

Yes, Canon France have impressed me with their handling of the problem that I had with my first 5D MkII – I received a brand new camera today, and this time it actually takes photos. I have to praise Canon’s customer service – they’ve been courteous and reactive.

I’ve had a quick play by taking some shots in our lounge and developing the Raw files in Lightroom 2.2 and everything seems fine.   The detail at 3200 ISO is very impressive.

Since we have our Christmas tree up I felt obliged to test for the black spot syndrome, but in my briefs tests using the default settings (except that I use Raw) there’s not a black spot in sight, or even a dead pixel for that matter.  I’m a happy shopper.

I shaln’t be doing any more pixel peeping, I just want to go and take some proper photos….

Welcome to my new blog

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

Yes, I finally have a blog – I can hardly claim to be original in this respect.

So, what’ll I be talking about? Anything photographically related that spurs my interest. I’ll talk about recents images I’ve taken, I’ll show some of my shoots, I’ll talk about the gear, and I’ll no doubt mention my Lightroom plugins from time to time too.

I’ll try to avoid being boring.
